Going Dark – Time for some Time off

I am leaving tomorrow for some well deserved vacation, so don’t expect any blog updates while I am away. If I can get Internet access, I may post something, but I doubt it.

Of course, I don’t want to leave you with nothing to read while I’m away. So, here is your reading assignment:

Art posted an interview with me about my decision to move to Port 16 (abandoning The Bit Bucket)

While you are over there, you should read some of his other posts, like how to hide the fact that you are reading Harry Potter, Run Windows Apps on Linux, or learn some new facts about German bathroom habits. Art also posts a lot about Portable Apps.

If you run out of things to read there at Incoherent Mumbling, here are some other blogs you can check out:

Ghosts in the Machine – Sharon has lots of good stuff here. Digital identity, privacy, net neutrality, and other topics.

Homespun Honolulu – You guessed it, a Hawaii blog. Even though I don’t live there any more, I still miss it sometimes.

Necessary Skills – Peter Haslam writes some really well thought out, deep posts here. Absolutely a blog worth reading.

Thought Sparks – Various topics, great posts.

When I return, there will be a quiz.

Also on Port 16:

  • Revvy’s Vienna Lager
  • Happy Thanksgiving!
  • I love the Writer’s Strike
  • Welcome to Port16 – and so it begins
  • Summary for the Week Ending September 23rd, 2007

      Thanks.
If you keep your current rate of posting up, I’ll never be able to carch up with your site when I do get back.

I like your new “home”. Have a great vacation and thanks for the link!

Thanks, I still need to work some kinks out, but I am really glad to have my own domain now.

No problem on the link. Thanks for your site.

I’m still stunned… uh… thank you! I certainly never expected anything like this! I’ll be sure to share the favor as soon as I can figure out how!

Suggestion: If you’re going to Germany, write about stuff in your journal so you can share it in one of the Carnival of Cities that post every week!

Okay, you also have to let us know when you get home. :) Have fun and thanks again!

No problem for the link, I really enjoy reading your blog. I haven’t lived in Hawaii in about 13 years, and it is just nice to see what is happening.

I’m actually going to visit family in Florida and Georgia, so no international travel this time.

I’ll still have to see if the Carnival of Cities covers US cities, I’m sure I’ll be in some in Georgia that no one has heard of. :-)

Mike, Very much appreciate the link to my blog. Yesterday was my first day back after a 10-day respite in the mountains. Vacations are such wonderful things. I think I’m ready for another.

Hey Phil, vacations sure are great! I just came back yesterday, but I think I need a vacation to recover from the vacation :-)

I always enjoy coming home, something about sleeping in my own bed, and knowing where everything is at my house.

We had a good time though, and are already planning next year’s vacation.

Don’t worry about the link, I enjoy reading your blog, keep up the good work!

Welcome home, Mike! It must have been good if you’re planning next year’s already! :)

It sure was. Next year we are going to try and organize a trip to lake Powell.

One of the places we went this time was Jacksonville Fl, and I was able to do some boogie boarding, but it was nothing like Hawaii.

It occurred to me that I could probably get some great rates to fly and stay out there during the winter, and that’s when the surfing is best anyway. Not sure when, but I am going to have to do that soon.
