Problems Uploading Images to WordPress using Windows Live Writer Beta?

Date August 11, 2007

Art, over at Incoherent Mumbling ran into this issue with WordPress and Windows Live Writer Beta, and found a fix for it. Windows Live Writer started giving him the error “Image upload not supported by weblog”, which we all know is a blatant lie!

This is something that I should keep handy, because I use Windows Live Writer Beta, and I’m sure now that people are having this problem, my computer is going to want to follow the crowd.

Art called me and asked me about it, and my suggestion, to delete the account in Live Writer and recreate it, didn’t fix it.

Good Work Art!

It was a pretty easy fix. I’m glad it worked, because my only other option was to configure FTP upload for my images, and I didn’t want to do that.

      Thanks for the linkage!

I started using Windows Live Writer when I first started blogging and had some problems with image upload also but didn’t look much into it, switched to Qumana editor… but a couple of days ago I was looking at Live again and found this for image problem

Apparently others have had similar issues….

Thanks Pearl, that is one option. I think I like the fix Art found (linked to in the article) since it lets you use the native WordPress support.

I tried Live Writer when it first came out, and it didn’t work for my blogging platform at the time, but they released a second beta, and it is much better. That is about all I use now.

I saw the solution Perl pointed out. It is certainly an option, but I really didn’t want to create another user on my FTP server for this purpose

Thanks for your suggestion, though, Perl!

hi guys… sorry I am late in replying here I stayed out the entire day today! :)

I haven’t looked at art’s solution yet but will bookmark it! looks like app is working for me this time, I specifically wanted to try to post the picture in my latest post and worked pretty good… i haven’t upgraded so may be the problem I faced was with blogger, I’m not sure yet…

The first Live Writer I used was released right when blogger was doing the “blogger beta” thing, and I had already migrated to beta. I think that is why it didn’t work for me.

The second beta of Live Writer worked fine.

I love Live Writer, and I’m glad you like it. You should check out some of their plug ins.
