Review of EarthCore Audiobook / Podcast
August 25, 2007
I mentioned in an earlier post about the free audio books and podcasts at podiobooks.com, that at the time I was listening to EarthCore by Scott Sigler. I finished it, and I loved it.
It took a little while for the action to get going, but to be honest, I was very interested in the character and plot development. The characters and interactions held my interest, so it didn’t seem slow while I was listening.
Let me tell you though, when the real action started, I was just hooked. I think I listened to the last half of the book in about 4 days, rather then the 3 or 4 weeks it took me to listen to the first half.
My biggest complaint is that during a question and answer session that was part of the podcast, Scott said that he was going to really get cracking on the sequel, and should have it out in 8 months or so. Although the podcast wasn’t dated, I figured that was a year or more ago, now I learn that the sequel isn’t out yet.
I can’t wait!
Currently I am listening to 7th Son Book 2: Deceit, written by J.C. Hutchins. I finished “Book 1: Descent“, but I’m so into the story that I’m spending every free moment listening to it. I’ll write a review eventually.
One warning though, while I was looking for all of the links for this article, I found out that “Book 3: Destruction” is currently underway, so unless I catch up with the author, the review may be awhile. Here is a quick one, just to hold you over:
Its great, go listen to it.

I am a nasty, dirty, filthy liar. I mislead. I don’t know why I do it it, but I do. Maybe it’s how I was raised?
I fully mean to finish that sequel, but some other good things popped up in the meantime. Namely, my hardcover debut out from Crown Publishing on April 1, 2008 - called INFECTED. I hope you snag a copy!

Oh, I will. I’m anxiously awaiting the movie too!
Thanks for commenting Scott! Keep up the great work.
