Iron Man the Movie
September 13, 2007
Yes, you read that one right. They are making a Iron Man Movie!
Needless to say, I was pretty surprised when I heard about this. Take a look at the trailer. It looks great!
Release date is May 2, 2008.
Iron Man wasn’t one of more popular Marvel characters, so the title didn’t come to mind when I thought of what may be the next Marvel Movies. Then again, I would never have guessed there would be a Transformers movie either.
Of course, I was wrong.
Another surprising detail is that the lead character, Tony Stark / Iron Man, is going to be played by Robert Downey Jr. (IMDB Link). I don’t follow celebrity gossip, but I didn’t think any of the studios were going to touch him. I think he is a good choice, and I have always liked his acting.
The Marvel movie making really has been terrific, and I hope that they continue to be popular. The more popular they are, the more likely they will be to make more movies based on the Marvel Universe.
So far, I have been really pleased with the quality of the Marvel movies coming out of the Movie studios, although I haven’t seen Ghost Rider, which was another one that I would never have expected being chosen for a movie.
X-Men and Spiderman, in my opinion, were true to the comic book, even if they changed a couple of details.
The next characters that I would like to see get made into a movie is Captain America and Thor. Although Captain America had the name recognition, I don’t think that either one was a very popular title.
OK, how about Groo the Wanderer? That one should stay animated though.

I wasn’t ever really a big comic book fan, so I don’t usually get too excited about the movies. One I did read, though, was Groo. Groo the Wanderer was great, and I’m glad to see it’ll be a movie soon. That’s one I’ll definitely go to see when it hits theaters.

You know, I didn’t even read the Wikipedia entry, I just used it to give a reference to who Groo was. That is really awesome that they are making a movie. I just hope it’s good.
