In the video, I was just joking about the getting aggressive when they don’t get fed what they want. Or maybe that’s what the rat overlords would want me to tell you.

For my son’s birthday, he wanted to get a gerbil or a hamster. We did a little research, and it turns out that Rats are friendlier, can be trained, and have a longer life expectancy. So what the heck, why not get some rats?

Actually, we started out with just one, but he didn’t seem happy, and we read a little more, and it turns out they don’t like to be alone. So we bought a second rat.

So far so good. They are really cute, and everyone likes them. We haven’t tried to train them yet, right now we’re just trying to get them used to humans. They seem to be adapting pretty quickly.

It does seem a little strange that we bought something that many people pay good money to kill.
