Small Oopsie on Command of the grill week

Date November 8, 2007

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work out. I started posting on Sunday, and Sunday night, my youngest started getting sick. This turned out to be the classic 2 symptom stomach virus. Since I’m sure that everyone has had a stomach virus, I bet you can guess the 2 symptoms. He started feeling better Monday evening.

Of course, that was mere hours before my oldest started with the same thing.

Then lo and behold, Tuesday comes around, and I’m sick with those two symptoms.

So if you have been following along, I missed the Tuesday post, along with a couple of days of work.

Can we guess who was sick today, that’s right, my wife.

I know that we aren’t talking about food poisoning or anything, since we didn’t all get sick at the same time, and I’m sure that my wife will be better tomorrow.

I was supposed to cook the last recipe this week, but it just doesn’t look like that is going to happen. What I will more than likely do is cook the final recipe on Sunday or early next week, and post about it next week sometime.

My apologies, and thanks to everyone who has been reading along.

Back to posting and a few updates

Date October 21, 2007

Well, I think I’m finally back to posting again. I do apologize for the long absence. I haven’t posted about anything besides being sick since the 5th, and I am about fed up with that.

Today I was able to finally finish a guest post that I had promised a long time ago. I’ll let everyone know when it goes live.

Also, Weber finally added “Command of the Grill” to their web site again. Although you can’t buy it yet from the Command of the Grill website, you can buy it from Weber’s online store, for a very reasonable $10.00.

Although I haven’t been doing much, I have been able to squeeze out a recipe from the book every weekend. Right now I think I’ll be able to do a week of recipes. So expect to see the recipes starting to get posted on November 4th through the 9th, with a summary post on the 10th. The 10th of November being the Marine Corps Birthday.

No one has yet to contact me about doing a recipe, but if you are interested, please let me know. I could use at least one more recipe to make it an even 7 recipes. As it is, I think I’m going to have to cook 3 recipes the weekend of the 3rd.

Let me tell you, it has been a huge hardship eating all of those steaks :-)

Feeling Better … Really

Date October 11, 2007

When I posted earlier that I thought I was doing better, it turned out that I was wrong. Really wrong.

I spent the rest of the weekend in bed, and even missed some work this week. I finally went to a doctor Tuesday, since it marked 2 weeks that I had been sick. Boy was I glad that I went.

Turns out that besides a bad chest cold, I also had a ear, sinus and throat infection. They put me on antibiotics, an inhaler, nasal decongestant, and some over the counter meds. I finally saw some improvement yesterday.

Thanks to everyone who wished me well!

I hope to start posting again pretty quickly, and I owe Pearl a guest post, which I will be getting to very soon.

I managed to cook some meat on Saturday for the Command of the Grill promotion series that I’m planning. I still haven’t heard from anyone who was interested in taking part, but Art was kind enough to help me get the word out.

I hope I didn’t scare anyone off, I’m not a gourmet chef, and I fully expect some of the recipes not to come out so well, due to my ineptitude.

I’m only looking for a picture, and what you thought of the recipe you prepared. The posting doesn’t have to be on my site, I’m glad to just link to you.

If you are interested in participating, just leave a comment here, and I can get in touch with you to see what you want to cook. You don’t have to own the book, I’ll gladly email you a recipe from it.

More later…

Nigh Invulnerable

Date October 6, 2007

S6300402 The Phrase I always use to describe my vitality is “Nigh Invulnerable”. This is how the Tick described himself, since I lack antenna, and avoid wearing full body tights, that’s about all we have in common.

Lately, that “Nigh” has been nearly killing me. Nigh means “near”, so I’m not entirely invulnerable to disease and sickness. Some bug has decided to prove that recently.

This is one of the reasons that my blogging has been suffering some. I usually do some of my best typing early in the morning.

I usually get up at 05:00, but the last two weeks I haven’t been able to get out of bed at all. I end up rushing out the door, and end up getting to work later than I want to. Luckily, I don’t actually have to be at work at any specific time, although I find my day goes much better if I can beat most of the employees in.

Oh yea, Fortress Forever hasn’t been helping matters either. To make things worse, I’m actually downloading Team Fortress 2 right now. Yes, I’m a glutton for punishment.

Anyway, I think I’m getting better now. I only break down into a coughing fit a couple of times an hour. I was actually able to get up early on Thursday, and I think that’s the real sign that there is improvement coming.

Of course now, all I have to do is take care of all the winterization stuff that comes with home ownership in Colorado. I sure do like the fall though. I need to take some shots of the Aspens turning.

Stay tuned.
