Why Port 16?
In October 1994, RFC 1700 was released, listing the current assigned port numbers. Port 16 was reserved for Chaos.
Now, the reservations wasn’t made for what we normally consider chaos, lack of order and confusion, it was made for the MIT Chaos Protocol.
I still thought it was a fitting name for my domain. People who work with technology are constantly making order out of chaos, and this is especially true if you work in a support role or IT shop.
At the time of this writing, Port 16 is no longer assigned to the Chaos protocol, or any other protocol.
